INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT ECOLOGY CONSERVATION AND COOPERATION
Ecological and economical dynamics of cacao plantations inside rainforests of Togo and Cote d’Ivoire
Goal:
Cacao production is one of the most important agro-forestry practices in West Africa. In Togo, cacao production is concentrated in the hilly area in the south-west of the country, close to the political border with Ghana, whereas in Cote d’Ivoire it represents one of the main businesses for the country. This project aims at evaluating the main issues faced by the different cacao production strategies in Togo and Cote d’Ivoire, highlighting its connections with poverty alleviation and ecosystem management and conservation practices. A road map of future needs is the main to-do goal for the present project.
Countries:
Togo; Cote d’Ivoire
Years:
2015-to date
Project Director: Daniele Dendi
